Modders are once again keeping Skyrim afloat with new content, this time by adding in three of the legendary dragons from The Song of Ice and Fire franchise, namely, Meraxes, Vhagar and Balerion the Black Dread. With HBO's House of The Dragon revitalising the franchise and sparking that much-needed excitement for dragons again, this mod is the perfect companion for your Skyrim playthrough.

Working from the previous modder, "KaienHash", who developed GoT and HotD dragons mods, the HOTD Dragons Conquest Trio mod by "archlyde123" replaces the original Skyrim dragons Paarthurnax and Alduin with Vhagar and Balerion the Black Dread. This was done by using Balerion's skull, as seen in The House of The Dragon, as a reference.

Crucially, for players with the Dawnguard and Dragonborn expansions, the mod also turns Dawnguard's legendary dragon into Meraxes. Unlike the other dragons, this one can be tamed using the 'Bend Will' shout earned by progressing through the Dragonborn DLC story arc. As such, it is possible to take Meraxes for a flight with this mod and soar over your favourite Skyrim towns.

Unfortunately, as Paarthurnax and Alduin are the models for the other dragons, these are unique to the game and cannot be tamed with the same shout.

Using a combination of artwork and scenes from House of the Dragon, archlyde123 has reworked the original Skyrim models, resizing their heads, wingspan, and tail size to better fit the image of the iconic dragons from the series.

Arguably the most famous of all dragons, Balerion the Black Dread, has been modelled onto Alduin's frame. Meaning, if you have another playthrough of the main Skyrim story you'll have your footsteps menacingly followed by the huge beast and will eventually face him in a one-to-one match where only one of you will be the victor.

To try out the mod for yourself, you can download it from Archlyde123's page on Nexus Mods here.
