Remember, he is vengeance. While we're waiting to see what's next for the Dark Knight in video games, one concept has shown off what an Unreal Engine 5 Batman game could look like.

After Matt Reeves' The Batman soared to the top of the box office in 2022, there are questions about how Warner Bros. will expand this grimy Gotham City that makes Christopher Nolan's look like Teletubbyland.

One easy sell would be a new-gen Batman game where you can soar above the city's criminals and pounce on them from above.

What Is The Unreal Engine 5 Batman Game?

While it feels like we've largely moved past the era of video game tie-ins to movies, could WB unite our love of pixels with Reeves' The Batman 2... or whatever it ends up being called?

Noted concept artist TeaserPlay has imagined their own Unreal 5 version of The Batman. Seemingly set alongside the movie, we see Unreal Engine 5 versions of Robert Pattinson's floppy-haired Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter ego.

Capturing the essence of this rain-soaked Gotham, we also see Jeffrey Wright's Jim Gordon and Paul Dano's Riddler. The brooding Batman watches over the city, which looks glorious in Unreal Engine 5 and shows exactly how far graphics have come.

As with all these things, some of the face work is a little off, but remember, this comes from a fan and not a massive developer like Rocksteady Games. We're also a bit bummed we don't see Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman, but you can't win 'em all.

Like any of TeaserPlay's concepts, the comments section was soon flooded with calls for developers to hire the OP to make it become a reality. One cheered, "They need to make another Batman game. It could allow you to play as Bruce Wayne and Batman depending on the time of day."

Another supporter said, "Absolutely amazing just wow the details are insane. Riddler's appearance gave me chills," while a third said, "Now this is amazing. I want WB to see this and get you on their team to just expand do so much with this concept peace. Such amazing work."

What's Next For Batman Video Games?

After taking over the DC Extended Universe, Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn has promised more cohesion between the movies and games. Many have taken this to mean there will be an influx of new games based on the heroes and villains of DC comics, with Batman surely being a priority.

One fan of the Unreal Engine 5 Batman game said now would be the perfect time for an open-world title for the Caped Crusader following the disappointment of Gotham Knights. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League might not be a Batman game, but there are hints of it being an Arkham Knight sequel thanks to a posthumous appearance from Kevin Conroy

It's true we haven't had a Batman tie-in since Batman Begins, so we'll have to wait and see what Reeves and Gunn are cooking up. There was definitely scope in Rocksteady's world to continue the story beyond Arkham Knight. Effectively playing a nighttime version of Marvel's Spider-Man would be a lot of fun, so we'll fire up the Batmobile.
