Hatsune Miku is great, and it's time we all admitted it. The fictional pop star with her iconic bright blue twin tails has unironically turned out banger after banger, starring in her own video games and performing in hologram concerts across Japan in proof of her enduring fanbase.

People love Miku, and for good reason. But some people… uh… really love Miku. So much so that they're actually making attempt to marry the 16-year-old pop star - with varying results.

Man Marries Hatsune Miku

Akihiko Kondo might be the biggest Miku fan of the bunch, and took the plunge to invite her into holy matrimony. But the pair's marriage hasn't exactly ended happily.

He's fictosexual, meaning he's primarily attracted to fictional characters, and as it turns out, Hatsune Miku is truly the girl of his dreams.

According to Mainichi, Kondo has been dating Miku since way back in 2008, but he finally plucked up the courage to put a ring on it in 2018. His family didn't come to the wedding. :(

But now, on top of all of the struggles that a relationship with a girl who simply isn't real offers, now she can't speak to him.

The reason that Kondo's relationship with Miku could last is that he'd invested in the $1,300 Gatebox, a machine that let him talk to Miku via hologram. But now, the Gatebox's software has gone kaput, and with it, Kondo's main point of conversation with Miku. Even though he's made it clear that he knows that Miku isn't real, it's still sad that he's lost his beau, maybe for good.

Miku may be lost to Kondo, ending the bizarre relationship, but we're sure there is plenty of other fish in the sea. If we all pitch in to get him a Crunchyroll subscription, we're sure he can find a new boo in no time. In the meantime, it looks like she's giving him the silent treatment.
