The Mafia series has been a little quiet, but are we already looking at Mafia 5? Some feel it's probably better sleeping with the fishes, after Mafia 3 was released to a murmur and fans mostly agreed that it was perfectly fine. In many ways, that's the last thing you want your game to be.

Since the game launched in 2016, the Mafia series has had its dedicated fan base dwindle somewhat. Others have remained dedicated, in the hopes that redemption is on the horizon. And though we might be waiting a hot minute for the series' return, it looks like it could be big. Forget Mafia 4, some are already looking ahead at Mafia 5

Is Mafia 5 Already In Development?

Mafia 5 Reportedly In Development Alongside Mafia 4

While Mafia 4 is in development and reportedly shooting up the competition as an Unreal Engine 5-developed prequel, rumour has it that yet another Mafia game is in development alongside it. This would bring the number of mainline titles in the series up to five.

A report by Bloomberg has suggested that Hangar 13 president Nick Baynes is working to get Mafia 5 greenlit the moment that production concludes on the fourth game - carrying the development over in a move that improves the logistics of the process.

It's thought that this is a result of the huge lay-offs of Hangar 13 employees, and with hopes that Mafia 4 will be a big financial jolt for the company, Mafia 5 is being planned to do the same.

Mafia 4 Release Date: When Will We Know More?

Though there is no official confirmation of the Mafia 4's existence from 2K Games or Hangar 13, the rumours of the game's existence have come pouring out of the gaming industry's ears. Still, the notion of developing Mafia 5 before 4 is even official is a bold one from Hangar 13.

The fact that these reports have been so illuminating and consistent indicates that a reveal might not be that far away, and that the coming months could finally be the time that we learn more about Mafia 4, or at least, officially. Mafia fans, the wait may soon be over - and the series looks to be coming back with a bang. Brace yourselves.
