Though they're not often as massively overwhelming in the gaming industry as your typical FPS or RPG, the horror game is a special kind of art. When a spooky title storms the scene, it's always a treat.

Such is true of Little Nightmares - the sinister indie created by Tarsier Studios that took players by surprise and earned itself a fantastic sequel. The game is a beloved marker of just how indies can perform. And now, the Little Nightmares team is working on something new - which might not be Little Nightmares at all.

Little Nightmares' Dev Team Is Working On Something New

A new tweet from Tarsier Studios has hinted that its newest project has been in development for a little while. Better yet, the tweet suggests we could be seeing more of it soon, although it may not be a Little Nightmares game at all.

The tweet has a first look at the project and has a simple caption that says, "We've been busy." Given a tease of what's to come, it shows a flicker of unfamiliar images including a tall barn-like structure and a car on an empty road - underneath the company's logo.

It's an interesting teaser, mostly because it's practically indiscernible - but at least we've got a look at the aesthetics of the upcoming project. Notably, it's a pretty big indication that this isn't the mythical Little Nightmares 3 we can't help but talk about.

Is This New Project A New Little Nightmares Game?

Notably, this teaser doesn't look to be following the art direction of Little Nightmares or its acclaimed sequel, so it's expected that this project is a brand-new property. Then again, who knows? Tarsier could yet surprise us with the surprise reveal of Little Nightmares 3

Whatever it is, it looks incredibly compelling and well-designed. We're confident that no matter what property this project falls into, Tarsier can turn out a banger. It's always nice to see studios branch out and try something new, and it looks like Tarsier is doing exactly that. We're looking forward to seeing what risks the team takes, but mostly, we're looking forward to having the pants scared off us.
