It seems that 2022 is the year of the television adaptation in the world of video games.

The announcements have hardly stopped, with It Takes Two gearing up for a deal that could take it to both the big and small screen, and Sonic The Hedgehog 2's Idris Elba-voiced Knuckles already getting ready for his own series on Paramount+. It's not just Halo getting all of the series love this year, and the adaptations just seem to keep coming.

And now, another game series could be on its way to TVs everywhere - and it's one that should make the transition very nicely indeed.

The episodic, narrative-driven adventure titles in the Life Is Strange series is finally set to actually come to life, and it's found itself a brand new studio too.

The series was first announced back in September of 2021, revealing that the TV version would be coming from Legendary Television and dj2 Entertainment, with help from Anonymous Content as producers, and pop star Shawn Mendes set to produce and help curate the series' music.

The titles have long been apt to be adapted to a series due to the first two games being arranged in chapters, and the strong narrative is one that fans have become engrossed with ever since the first Life is Strange launched back in 2015. It's likely to be a big hit on streaming services - which is apt because the game's adaptation has found a new production company that will help to make it very easily accessible.

Deadline has now reported that Amazon Studios has signed a "first-look deal" with dj2 Entertainment, meaning that the upcoming projects on their slate could end up going straight to Amazon's Prime Video streaming service - Life is Strange included.

That's not all, though - dj2 also has access to the intellectual properties of Little Nightmares and Disco Elysium as well as It Takes Two, so the future of these projects could well be on Prime Video.

Whichever way Life Is Strange arrives, is fine by us, we just want to see them. The games have long begged for an adaptation for the small screen, and we can't wait to see how it turns out. It's competing with some big TV adaptations like The Witcher and Arcane, but we reckon it'll fare just fine.
