Despite Diablo 4 only launching in 2023, 2024 could be the year of the ARPG. Path of Exile 2's closed beta is coming, but in the interim, Last Epoch might be worth a look.
Having been in development since 2018, initially through Kickstarter, the game is approaching its version 1.0 launch on February 21, 2024. Now, there's a big update from developer Eleventh Hour Games, alongside the launch trailer titled "Echoes from the Void".
Last Epoch hits 1 million players, gets launch trailer
Last Epoch has sold over 1 million copies over a month before launch, which isn't bad for a studio that began life as a Reddit post.
Perhaps just as impressive is that the game is currently ranked 'Very Positive' on Steam across both its recent and all-time reviews, with over 23,000 reviews left.
"We’re honored and humbled that the Last Epoch community has grown to one million players," said Judd Cobler, Founder and CEO of Eleventh Hour Games, and game director on Last Epoch in a press release.
"Being fans of the genre first and foremost, we’ve always kept close to our community and tried to reflect the needs and wishes of the players as we craft an action RPG for the ages."
If you've not yet picked up a copy, you're now spoilt for choice with a trio of editions. The Standard Edition, at $34.99, offers the game and a Golden Guppy pet for preorder customers.
The Deluxe Edition will set you back $49.99 and includes a digital soundtrack download, 50 Epoch Points, and additional cosmetics to arrive at launch on February 21.
Finally, Ultimate Edition purchases get all of the above, 100 Epoch Points, and even more cosmetics when the time comes.
As a big dungeon-crawling fan, I'm always looking for something different. Having shifted between Diablo 3, Diablo 4, and Lost Ark in recent months, I'm hopeful that Last Epoch can offer enough to make it stand out in what is becoming an increasingly busy genre.
