While it has been a bit of an open secret for a while now, we are certainly not ones to turn our noses up at more Metal Gear Solid 3 remake crumbs. Both fans of the original 2004 release and players wanting a way to easily play the highly revered stealth title are clamouring for this supposed remake, but they might not have to wait much longer.

What Has Been Said About The Metal Gear Solid Remake?

In the final 2022 issue of Famitsu - translated into English by Gematsu, several key figures across various big Japanese development and publishing studios were asked for a short statement on their ambitions for 2023. While most interviewees were obviously secretive with their answers, we did get a few rather teasing hints sprinkled throughout.

One of the biggest suggestions came from Konami veteran and long-time Kojima collaborator, Noriaki Okamura, who has previously been a producer for a number of the spin-off Metal Gear titles.

His keyword for 2023 was 'long-awaited', and for the ambitions he states that they will be able to announce several titles in 2023. While it is not exactly a shock for Konami to announce games next year, it is the keyword that draws the most interest. Although, some might be glad that it's not pachinko machines for a change.

Considering that most, if not all, of the Silent Hill content has been announced, the elephant in the room left to be revealed is of course the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Accompanying this could also be additional reimaginings of other Metal Gear Solid titles - with the first game being the other major rumour, but hopefully fans will get some joy in the new year.

Who Will Be Remaking Metal Gear Solid 3?

While we have currently no concrete information regarding the studio behind the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, we can make some rather confident estimations.

The first and most prominent guess would be Bluepoint Studios, who obviously were at the helm of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection released on PS3 and Xbox 360. They operate as arguably the most prominent studio focussed on remaking games so it would not be surprising to see them chosen.

Furthermore, while some fans see them teasing a Bloodborne remake, Bluepoint's rather cryptic end of year tweet could also hint towards a return to Metal Gear.

Despite the wishes of many fans, it is extremely unlikely Hideo Kojima or Kojima Productions as a whole will return to their beloved franchise. Outside of the fact that they are rather busy with games of their own, the way Kojima and Konami's relationship ended was allegedly not on the best of terms. So, I wouldn't hold out hope.
