It was thought that Jurassic Park: Survival was dead and buried, but much like the dinosaurs from the beloved movie, it's been resurrected.

In a trailer revealed at The Game Awards 2023, movie and video game buffs alike were treated to a glimpse of what the gameplay has to offer. I'm almost certainly too much of a wuss to give this one a go, but if you liked Alien Isolation, chances are you'll be stoked for this one.

Spared no expense

Jurassic Park: Survival was originally supposed to be released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox, but it was canned by publishers Konamo and Vivendi. As such, it never saw the light of day - but it's back now and in development at xx.

The new trailer started out with some CG goodness to set the scene, recreating plenty of iconic scenes from the original film. We're talking about the scene with the abandoned Jeep by the wire fence, and even the Raptors in the kitchen.

However, we also got a bit of a glimpse at some early gameplay footage, too. With our main protagonist seemingly running and mantling through the premises of Jurassic Park, we're not quite sure if the game will be more survival horror or action-based. Maybe somewhere in between?

A description on the game's official website reads: "Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making.

Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story.

Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviours brought to life by John Hammond’s vision."

There's no word of a launch window just yet, either. We'll keep our ears to the ground!
