Infinity Ward, the developers of the Modern Warfare series within the Call of Duty universe, has seemingly fired one of its employees after racist messages emerged online.

The developer studio that operates under the guidance of Activision has faced quite a tumultuous year with Modern Warfare 2. The individual designers have being attacked and even sent death threats over the state of this year's Call of Duty title.

But the storied developer studio has now been placed under scrutiny again, as it appears that one employee had their private Twitter DMs leaked. The contents have reportedly been shared online, which include severely racist messages.

Twitch streamer Tianna-Mercedes called out an individual on social media, operating under the name "brittbxnny," who had previously posted pictures that suggested she was an Infinity Ward employee.

Amid their ties to the Call of Duty developers, Tianna-Mercedes revealed the woman's supposedly private Twitter DMs. These quickly went viral due to their racist content, and then caught the attention of Infinity Ward.

With the messages being shared numerous times, Infinity Ward swiftly responded in a public statement on Twitter. The developer confirmed, "The individual in question is no longer an employee at Infinity Ward." The apparent ex-Infinity Ward employee has now taken down their social media too.

Tianna-Mercedes has often pioneered and advocated equality in gaming, having recently featured in a promotional campaign between Guild Esports and SkyUK to prevent abuse for women online, specifically in online Call of Duty games where she advocated the hashtag "no room for abuse".

Infinity Ward will likely be wanting to keep the controversy tight-lipped, especially given the recent drama surrounding Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff and the boycott supporting him. This has seen more than enough political sparring between the community and developers.
