Infamous gas mask glitch is back in Warzone 2
The infamous gas mask glitch is well-known in the Call of Duty community as it plagued the original Warzone, forcing talented players to lose matches due to bug abusers sitting outside the ring.
As the name would suggest, the exploit effectively makes the duration of your gas mask infinite, completely nullifying any ring damage you would usually take.
This allows players who abuse the glitch to win matches without dealing a single point of damage or killing an opponent.
Well, to the frustration of a lot of Warzone 2 players, the glitch has returned and it's already ruining Ranked matches.
The gas mask exploit is back in Warzone 2
As showcased by streamer and pro player Intechs, the gas mask glitch has returned to Warzone 2 and there's seemingly no counter to the exploit.
After reaching the final stages of a match, only he and one other player were left in the Ranked match. Unfortunately, the enemy was nowhere to be seen as they were abusing the gas mask glitch.
This meant Intechs missed out on the win and couldn't do anything about it. Of course, this was massively disappointing them, especially considering it was a Ranked game where the stakes are significantly higher.
While running into this issue is still rare at the moment, if the method behind this exploit becomes common knowledge, it could compromise the competitive integrity of Ranked as a whole.
Will the gas mask glitch ever be fixed in Warzone 2?
Over the years since the gas mask exploit first popped up in the original Warzone, the bug has been patched multiple times but then always returned in the future.
While it's possible the devs discover a permanent fix for the bug in Season 4, based on the previous track record, that seems unlikely.
Either way, Ranked players will be hoping this is sorted quickly, as losing games over due to an exploit will always be unbelievably frustrating.
