How To Counter Killjoy's Ultimate With Omen In VALORANT

Killjoy has quickly become a fan-favourite within VALORANT as the 12th agent was introduced at the end of July. Just over two weeks later, players have been enjoying her mechanics, especially her ultimate, 'Lockdown'.

She's described in VALORANT as "The genius of Germany. Killjoy secures the battlefield with ease using her arsenal of inventions. If the damage from her gear doesn't stop her enemies, her robots' debuff will help make short work of them," and the robotic mechanics have caused many to believe that she is overpowered, especially Lockdown.

Whilst it takes a long time to load up, the debuff is rather severe and can cripple the movement speed of an enemy, making for easy pickings. So far, few people have been able to survive the ultimate when it connects. That is, until a clip surfaced of a player counteracting Killjoy's ultimate by using Omen's ultimate, 'From The Shadows'. Reddit user u/King_Kappa69 demonstrated how jumping into Omens ultimate stops him from being crippled, and uses this to clutch up a 2v1 situation.

Down by two rounds and with both players advancing towards the bomb to get the defuse, Killjoy winds up her ultimate that would allow for quick and easy kill, putting them three rounds up and on course to victory. However, Omen times his ultimate to perfection jumping into his teleport to avoid being stricken by Killjoy and came out of it to snipe the defuser and out-manoeuvre Killjoy.

The Diamond/Platinum ranked player described this as one of his best outplays, and has received resounding praise from the VALORNT community, seemingly cracking how to counteract the overpowered ability of the new agent.

With the Allied Esports Odyssey playoffs kicking off on August 16, we may even see this play be used on the pro scene, as Team Liquid looks to be breaking their bad omen, and kill G2's recent joy.
