Just as the smell of cooked turkey begins to waft through our open windows, Call of Duty has called for an invitation to the celebrations to be extended. This year, we're rocking around the Christmas tree, dancing merrily, in a new old-fashioned way.

The old-fashioned way is a good old festive bash on the dancefloor of our favourite Call of Duty maps ever, as this holiday season, two iconic landscapes of warfare are being decked out to the nines with tinsel, baubles, and lights.

The Christmas party in Modern Warfare 3 is here, and with it comes Hangover and Shipmas, two advent-filled takes on Highrise and Shipment.

It took nearly 15 years for Call of Duty to decide to re-release Highrise in the main game series, while Shipment is back for its sixth turn - having featured in each of the last five games.

To celebrate, Call of Duty has revealed Hangover, a brand-new design to Highrise that turns each office into a dancefloor and allows for the cheap thrills to spill out throughout the map.

The Hangover design plummets Highrise into the nighttime, as cookies for Santa and Rudolph are just the beginning of the decorations, which reverberate off each corner of the popular multiplayer map.

Hangover will be joined by Shipmas. The fan-favourite is returning for another stint, having also been glitter-balled in many previous titles.

Together, these maps will join for a Snowfight game mode - launching on December 19. It's not yet clear if there will be any difference in how the mode plays or whether it will continue the theme of having multi-map moshpits.

Modern Warfare 3 will also have Infected Holiday as a new festive game mode, and the Playlist update will keep 10v10 Moshpit in the fold. Grab your glitter guns, we're heading to the battleground to sleigh the opposition away.
