During Gamescom 2022, the High On Life developers revealed that the game will feature DLC and other post-launch content.
High On Life is the next game by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland's game studio, Squanch Games, which was revealed earlier this year during Summer Games Fest. The first-person shooter has received a mixed reception from fans so far, with many gamers criticising the attempts at humour and the amount of dialogue present in the gameplay we've seen. For those who are looking forward to the title though, you may be happy to know that post-launch content has been confirmed by the developers.
High On Life Confirmed To Have Post-Launch Content
During the recent Gamescom trade show, High On Life made an appearance and the team behind it showed off 25 minutes of brand-new gameplay while discussing some further details on its development. Talking to GameRant, the executive producer Matty Studivan spoke briefly about their previous game Trover Saves the Universe. "With Trover, we supported it for a really long time," Studivan said before continuing, "and so I think we want to do the same with High On Life."
Studivan also went on to reveal that the team had already brainstormed a series of DLC ideas, and would be supporting the game after launch with patches, fixes, and content that doesn't make the final cut.
What Else Did We Learn About High On Life During Gamescom?
One of the biggest things we learned about High On Life, was its length. Studivan revealed that the game would take players between 12 and 20 hours to complete, depending on whether they focus on the story or also engage with the side content.
During the 25 minutes of new footage, we also got to see more of the mechanics at play. Along with your talking pistol, you have a talking knife that doubles as a grapple. It seems that weapons also have alt fire capabilities, with one example showing the pistol being used to fire green globs that created paths in the environment and acted as explosives against enemies.
High On Life is set for release on December 13, after being delayed from its initial date of October 25, and will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
