Fans have been desperate to find out exactly what Hideo Kojima has been up to since the launch of Death Stranding. And, frankly, he could have been up to anything. And now, we've got an idea of what comes next for Kojima fans. And it's a bold new step.

The video game auteur has such dramatic pull in the video game industry that he could be offered total creative freedom by any of the biggest gaming companies in the world, and it'd lead to a surefire smash hit. With Death Stranding being his biggest leap since his loss of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and the cancellation of Silent Hills, the creative mind is in high demand.

What Is Kojima's New Game?

In a brand-new announcement made during the long-awaited Xbox and Bethesda showcase on June 12, Kojima made a surprise appearance speaking to Phil Spencer about what will be his next game - and it has been announced that it'll be making the most of the technology built into the Xbox Series consoles.

"It's a completely new game that no one has ever experienced or seen before," Kojima stated. "I've waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it."

This is incredibly exciting, especially considering how bonkers some of Kojima's ideas have been in the past, and if this is something brand new that has been impossible until now, we could really be in for a treat. But, it does ask another entirely different question.

Where Does This Leave Death Stranding 2?

This has raised the eyebrows of a lot of Death Stranding fans, with them rightfully wondering if this game could be the long-awaited Death Stranding 2 - and it's safe to say that this probably isn't.

As this game is likely to be exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC, it'd be unfair to unleash the sequel for a PlayStation exclusive on a different console, and though that sequel could still be in development, this idea from Kojima seems brand-new. Though Bridges stans might be sceptical, this is fantastic news for Kojima die-hards - and if this game is anything like what Kojima has built it up to be, it's going to be incredibly special.
