After regaining from an underwhelming opening Major, the Los Angeles Guerrillas have put their hoods up, heads down, and guns out to spark another upper bracket attempt ahead of their ventures in Minneapolis this weekend. Sitting perky on a 3-2 record, the organisation that has often been marooned to the bottom of the standings for the last two years is now filled with promise and potential, and are poised to cause quite an upset at some stage of the season.

However, if they are wanting to strike at the Major 2, the Guerrillas will have to do so without their meddlesome flex player Pierce "Gunless" Hillman.

Gunless Ruled Out Of Major 2 With Illness

As of late, the former eUnited and Chicago Huntsmen championship winner has been in fine form for the Guerrillas' rebuild project, but missed out on the final qualifier against OpTic Texas due to an illness. A 3-0 thumping to the hands of Texas' record-breaking roster was handed to Guerrillas, although the roster had just a few days to prepare with substitute Kris "Spart" Cervantez.

Now, Spart is set to debut in a Vanguard LAN with LAG, as Gunless has spoken out about an illness that has led him to lose seven pounds and causes severe vomiting and nausea.

Taking to Twitter, Gunless revealed that he will not be able to make the trip to Minnesota ROKKR's Home Series this weekend. The 24-year-old veteran said, "for the past 6 months I've been dealing with Erosive Duodenitis, Stomach Ulcers, Small intestines Ulcers and been taking like 6 different medications to fix all of these conditions."

"I'm very sensitive to these types of meds and have been getting every side effect in the book, but it wasn't really bad until a week and a half ago when I just started throwing up constantly after scrims and matches. These past 4 days I've been struggling to sleep, eat, and just function," he continued.

Gunless Admits Surgery May Be Needed To Overcome Illness

Having been ruled out of the Major, Gunless' position on the LAG roster may not be reinstated going into Stage 3, with the Canadian flex player possibly needing surgery to overcome his illness.

Continuing on Twitter, Gunless said, "I will most likely have to undergo some kind of surgery to fix my Condition which will allow me to get off the meds as fast as possible."

Whether the surgery would have to be imminent is yet to be known, seemingly even to Gunless, although playing through injuries and illnesses in the CDL has often caused more damage than good.

Recently, Call of Duty royalty Ian "Crimsix" Porter found out how hard it was to compete under such circumstances, with the four-time World Champion needing ear surgery just hours after the Stage 1 major where his New York Subliners roster crashed out with back-to-back defeats.

For Gunless, he will be hoping to be fit for the start of Stage 3 qualifying, whilst watching the upcoming Major with his fingers crossed. Thankfully, Spart's knowledge of professional Call of Duty is not to be underestimated, despite dropping a 0.55 K/D ratio in his opening match against OpTic.
