Either Hell has frozen over or we live in a simulation because the first and very long-awaited trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally here, if a bit earlier than expected. The GTA 6 trailer was set to be revealed on Tuesday, December 5, but an intrepid individual took to X to release it themselves, much to the chagrin of everyone at Rockstar Games.

Following the leak, the trailer was released officially by Rockstar itself, just hours ahead of the planned reveal.

GTA 6 trailer finally unveiled

After years of speculation, rumours, and leaks, the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer tells us one important thing we didn't know before, which is that the game is set to launch in 2025. Nothing more specific has been said, so where exactly in the year the release will happen is still unknown.

What the trailer does confirm is much of the leaked info we already knew. For example, the game is indeed set in Vice City and is led by two protagonists, the Bonnie and Clyde-inspired Jason and Lucia. That said, some leaks suggested that Jason and Lucia were brother and sister, while the trailer heavily implies a romantic relationship between the two. Let's just hope that both don't turn out to be true.

Much like GTA 5, this first trailer leans heavily on cinematics. Most likely, some of the footage in the trailer is rendered in-game, but much of it seems to be pre-rendered cinematics. Hopefully, a proper gameplay trailer will come in the near future, but considering we have over a year at least to wait for the game, we might be waiting a while for our next look at GTA 6. Still - what a trailer, eh?
