We did it, Joe. After years of campaigning and whispers, it looks like Rare's beloved GoldenEye 007 is finally coming to modern systems. Now, the internet has turned up a potential GoldenEye 007 port for Xbox.

Helping define the FPS genre back in 1997, GoldenEye 007 was a pretty faithful retelling of Martin Campbell's GoldenEye from 1995 - except with Oddjob and a Golden Gun. While it was originally a Nintendo exclusive, the fact Microsoft now owns Rare has led to plenty of speculation.

Is A GoldenEye 007 Remake On The Way?

Eagle-eyed gamers have noted (via TrueAchievements) that there are new trophy listings for an Xbox version of GoldenEye 007. The site notes that the achievements are different to the ones from the previously leaked Xbox 360 remake that was cancelled, suggesting this is something new.

There's a full list of 55 achievements with a total Gamerscore of 1000 - including a secret one we won't reveal here. Alongside completing Dam on any difficulty to unlocking Tiny Bond, it's all pretty standard fodder. Even 25 years later, it's clear we're obsessed with the news.

What Else Do We Know About GoldenEye 007?

It's currently unclear whether the game is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series, or both. As we continue to bridge the gap between last-gen and new-gen, we're guessing it'll be both.

The Xbox Store page currently doesn't have anything listed, however, remember that this year is a major anniversary for GoldenEye 007. Sadly, the latest news suggests this beloved shooter won't be coming to Nintendo Switch.

2021 was a massive one for the Switch Online store, with the N64 expansion bringing the likes of Super Mario 64 and Pokemon Snap to the console. The fact Rare's Banjo-Kazooie made the leap gave hope to GoldenEye 007 following suit, but now, Nintendo fans had better prepare to be shaken and stirred.
