Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander has announced on Twitter that he will be returning to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) after ESL Cologne.

The joint most decorated CS:GO majors player will return to Astralis after taking some time out to focus on his mental wellbeing.

On May 19, gla1ve announced that he would be taking a minimum three-month break, advised by his doctors, to avoid becoming totally burnt out. With ESL set to run from August 18–30, gla1ve will be ready to return to CS:GO in September. His statement said:

"I am looking so much forward to coming back! I will take it step by step which means I won't be playing ESL Cologne, but I will help the team all I can so we can take the trophy home. A huge thanks to all who supported me during my break, it truly means so much to me".

What does this mean for Astralis?

Astralis has been making a lot of changes to its roster recently, meaning gla1ve won't be returning into the same team as before he took his leave.

Since his departure, Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth also stepped down from the team, Patrick "es3tag" Hansen joined after his contract with Herioc ended, and Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen was signed from MAD Lions in place of Jakob "JUGi" Hansen.

With gla1ve back in the picture, fans are unsure who's coming out of the roster to make way for the "greatest in-game leader in CS:GO". Recent performances suggest that gla1ve should walk back into the team, with his last game for the side being in the ESL ONE: Road to Rio in which they won.

Since, in the two majors that they have played in, they've not managed to make the top six on both occasions, flunking out of DreamHack Masters Spring 2020.

ESL Cologne will definitely answer a few questions around the side that has been so dominant in Europe for nearly half a decade. Kicking off on August 18, Bubzkji will make his debut and is looking to put his stamp on the new roster.

All players will be fighting to save their spot with gla1ve returning, and to get their hands on a large chunk of the $350,000 prize pool.
