There's some tragic news coming from Team G2 as David "davidp" Prins' father sadly passed away during a VALORANT tournament. It happened when davidp was in the middle of streaming his POV as part of the VALORANT Allied Esports Odyssey and G2's run in the Ignition Series.

In the footage, davidp received the news mid-match and is seen looking distraught. Although he asked for a pause, he was forced to complete the round because they can't be stopped once initiated. Prins said, "I need pause, I need pause, boys. I have emergency after this round I can't play".

After the news, davidp dropped out during game 2 (when the score was 9-9), leading to a G2 defeat of 13-9. With fans and his teammates left baffled, Prins took to Twitter to explained what really happened. The young player wrote, "My father just left this world while I was playing a tournament how bad can life be with me, how f*****g bad? I regret so many things, i regret that I didn't spend time with you lately, I regret that I didn't say that I loved you from years, I'll miss you Papa".

He later followed his tweet by thanking those around him for all their support during this trying time. It's an unfortunate turn of events - especially considering davidp's fledgling status with G2. After standing in at several tournaments, davidp was only officially signed onto the G2 roster on August 3.

Prins originally joined Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas Colocho on Team Mixwell for the G2 Esports Invitational and bagged a win. There was further success for Davidp and G2 at the WePlay! Invitational. During his career, he's competed as part of Team Skyyart for Twitch Rivals.

It's also unclear whether G2 will carry on with davidp as part of the team or he'll step back from playing VALORANT to mourn. The G2 squad is currently, Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas Colocho, Patryk "paTiTek" Fabrowski, Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi, Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks, and davidp. The official G2 account retweeted davidp's original statement, and at the time of writing, he's still part of the roster.
