Some information in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) world arrives in mysterious ways. This time, the Chinese multi-gaming organisation FunPlus Phoenix have announced the signing of GODSENT’s CS:GO roster - during what appears to be an official announcement ceremony.

The information arrived in the form of - buckle up - user Kiruna on the Liquipedia Discord server screenshotting a Chinese social media post that featured pictures taken at said ceremony. Those screenshots were then brought to the Western audience’s attention by Ryan from Rusb B Media, who shared it on his Twitter account. Yeah.

FunPlus Phoenix CS:GO Roster

The new roster appears to be the entirety of GODSENT’s current roster including coach Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg, who humorously replied to the tweet too

The players featured in the image are the following:

  • Asger "farlig" Jensen
  • Pavle "maden" Bošković
  • Martin "STYKO" Styk
  • Jesse "zehN" Linjala

A fifth player is so far missing, though DBLTAP had reported last week that GODSENT had been in contact with benched Finnish player Miikka "suNny" Kemppi. Whether or not this extends to the move to FPX is currently unknown.

The last couple of months had been mediocre for GODSENT, failing to get deep into any notable top tier tournaments other than excitingly their last one at the DreamHack Masters Winter 2020, in which the team competed with stand-in Luka "emi" Vukovic. The team finished in 3rd-4th place after a relatively tight match against mousesports in the upper bracket, notably beating Astralis and North to achieve their placement.

The news of the signing of GODSENT to FunPlus Phoenix had been known for as early as October 2020. The organisation had expressed intent to re-join the European CS:GO scene after they had stepped away from their temporarily signed Heroic roster in March which had caused the team to miss out on the first season of Flashpoint.

Update: FunPlus Phoenix's General Manager Petar "Peca" Markovic has responded to the news and has confirmed that the organisation is close to signing contracts with the team.
