FunPlus Phoenix is looking to ignite a return to CounterStrike: Global Offensive, rising from the ashes that emerged after their bid to acquire the Heroic roster in March was extinguished.

The Chinese organisation, best known for its League of Legends and VALORANT teams, first entered the CS:GO scene earlier this year, and after being close to finalising their deal to take over Heroic's roster prior to Flashpoint, the bid suddenly fell through due to Patrick "es3tag" Hansen's transfer to Astralis. Since then, they have also failed in their attempts to pick up former American side Bad News Bears, until they disbanded with two players heading over to VALORANT.

Now, the Phoenix look to return to the scene by signing the GODSENT roster, according to DBLTAP. The two orgs are in "advanced discussions" to transfer the roster to FunPlus Phoenix. The European side consists of Jesse "zehN" Linjala, Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend, Martin "STYKO" Styk, Pavle "Maden" Bošković, and Asger "Farlig" Jensen.

Best known for their League of Legends 2019 World Championship win, FunPlus Phoenix are looking to find more success in CS:GO, although the GODSENT roster themselves have yet to prove themselves together. GODSENT has a history boasting of huge European players winning multiple championships over their four-year tenure, however, this current squad has yet to make an impact.

After signing for GODSENT in December 2019, their most notable achievement was during their debut event, where they won the WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 tournament. Since then, they have just one B-Tier event win to their name and have now taken time out to continue their "promising, long-lasting roster" for 2021.

Should the deal go through, the team currently ranked 19th in the world will look to resurrect their journey and surpass their previous peak of 15th, by spreading their flame-filled wings and claw their way to greatness.
