It's quite a surprise that flying hasn't already been made possible in Fortnite, but as the great Buzz Lightyear once said, "This is falling, with style".

So far, any airborne mechanics in Fortnite have come as part of a special event with Spider-Man or Dragon Ball Z's Goku, but heading into Chapter 5 Season 2, this could all be about to change.

Fortnite has hinted at a flying mechanic arriving imminently, and now Epic Games' VP is also talking "wings", and they aren't Kentucky-fried.

Fortnite hints at a new flying mechanic in Chapter 5 Season 2

Rocket riding, jetpacks, and battle bus aside, flying in Fortnite has not yet been made possible, but as of Chapter 5 Season 2, it seems that players are set to become airborne.

The official Fortnite Competitive page has hinted that some other movement mechanics are coming to the title that differ from just walking or sprinting, and while that could also elude to going prone, getting down and regimented with some bellycrawling, taking to the skies seems to be more in-tune with the title.

But if that wasn't enough evidence for you...

Epic Games VP reiterates flying mechanic hints for Fortnite

As he typically does, Epic Games Vice President Mark Rein has now thrown his one-word summary of the new Seaosn out in the open, and this time, we can expect wings.

It is safe to say that these wings will likely not be the deep-fried ones, although there's a possibility that a drumstick could be joining fishtick in the arena, and will rather be eluding to flying wings.

Lightyear's problem persists though, if the wings serve as a glider alternative, will that still be falling with style? Or, the wings could come with jet packs, and then we're moving back into aeroplane territory.

Still, I hope you have good aim, as picking off people in the skies has always been tricky business.
