This is one crossover that's poised to bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, as the long-rumoured Doctor Who x Fortnite collaboration is ready to take us on a timey-wimey adventure. For a franchise that can travel anywhere in time, we're surprised it's taken this long to land the TARDIS in Fortnite.

The Whoniverse is back in a big way, and alongside the return of Russell T. Davies, Sex Education's Ncuti Gatwa is playing the Fifteenth incarnation of the complicated Time Lord. 2024 sees Doctor Who return as a full series for the first time since Jodie Whittaker bowed out, and safe to say, we're more than ready.

Don't believe the latest Doctor Who x Fortnite crossover

Fortnite fans are equally pumped to "exterminate" the competition in Epic Games' battle royale behemoth, although details are thin on the ground. The game has had major crossovers with the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars, so we're expecting equally big things from a Doctor Who collab.

Although the release of the Doctor Who crossover has been shifted around, leaker BURRN claims the TARDIS will be spinning into action on May 4, 2024. It connects to the Time-Brella glider that could be earned by scoring a Victory Royale in Chapter 4's OG season, which had two dates of May 4, 2024 and June 8, 2068.

We hopefully won't be waiting until 2068 for the Doctor Who x Fortnite crossover, so May 4 could be the big day. Doctor Who Series 14 debuts sometime in May 2024, so it's possible that we're on the money with this one. Still, May 4 just so happens to be a pretty big day for another major franchise.

Fortnite loves its Star Wars crossovers, and with May 4 being known as Star Wars Day, we're expecting the usual Wookiees and Wampas to invade the map in 2024. Seeing Doctor take over Star Wars Day just doesn't seem logical. Still, that doesn't mean we should completely count out a May launch.

What do we know about the Doctor Who x Fortnite crossover?

Even though it's unconfirmed, there's word that the original plan was to celebrate Doctor Who's 60th anniversary in November 2023. Instead, it seems Fortnite was busy getting LEGO Fortnite off the ground, seemingly pushing the collab back.

Way back when, iFireMonkey suggested we'd get a predictable lineup of a TARDIS glider, Psychic Paper emote, and skins based on David Tennant's Ten/Fourteen as well as Gatwa's Fifteen. We're hoping it's evolved into something more, as Doctor Who is deserving of its own themed season.

Similar to the Star Wars or IO outposts, we can imagine taking out NPC grunts and completing special mission quests to unlock an exclusive skin. If we really want to embrace the wacky, how about taking on iconic boss battles like Cybermen and Dalkes, or what about a unique Sonic Screwdriver weapon?
