The game development world is in a tough place right now, with even some of the biggest gaming companies suffering at the hands of dwindling interest.
Skull and Bones by Ubisoft appears to be struggling right now to hold onto its players, and after adopting a live-service model against fan hopes, Rocksteady might have put its foot in it with Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.
The industry could do with some bright sparks to bring some excitement to players - and it looks like one company could be set to do just that.
emptyvessel is the new all-star dev team
A brand new games company has been revealed which features some big names in development, branching across a huge number of beloved AAA titles and plucking them of their talented team.
Leading the charge are key content creator for 2016’s DOOM Emanuel Palalic, Garrett Young from multiple AAA launches with iD Software and Activision, and Wei Ning, who helped to render visuals for Blade Runner 2049.
The list goes on with team members working on The Last of Us, Uncharted, Borderlands, Call of Duty and more. It also boasts the now-legendary composer Mick Gordon, who scored the DOOM reboot games, Wolfenstein and Atomic Heart.
What’s coming first from emptyvessel?
The team has described itself as a “new studio focussed on immersive shooter experiences,” and it revealed in its very first tweet that “in due time, we will reveal THE SYSTEM.”
It is thought that this will be the company’s very first game, and with so many team members being involved in the production of the rebooted DOOM series, it’s expected that it will take some hefty inspiration from the franchise.
It’s a very exciting time to be a shooter fan, as while many competitors rise and fall, a project like this seems incredibly fortuitous. Bring on whatever THE SYSTEM ends up being.
