Don’t believe the Call of Duty x Jason Voorhees crossover hype

Although we'd love Jason Voorhees to carve himself a new legacy in Call of Duty, don't expect him to arrive anytime soon.

Rumoured Friday The 13Th X Call Of Duty Crossover

The spooky season is almost upon us, and with it, all the usual ghouls and goblins are getting ready to go bump in the night. Everything from Apex Legends to Fortnite are set to flick through their own Necronomicons, but getting in ahead of the competition, we already know what Call of Duty is bringing to the table.

Treyarch is busy resurrecting the Black Ops franchise for the upcoming Black Ops 6, but before we get there, MW3 has one more trick (or treat) up its sleeves. Season 6 is destined to take MW3 to the grave, with the return of The Haunting event bringing back Michael Myers. But, what about another horror legend?

We're not buying the Call of Duty x Jason Voorhees crossover

Although Halloween's Michael Myers is the poster boy of Season 6, he's in great horror company with Trick 'r Treat's Sam, The Walking Dead's Daryl Dixon, and Terrifier's Art the Clown. With all of the above, it doesn't seem like there's much room for anyone else, although that hasn't stopped rumours about Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees carving himself a new legacy.

X account DETONATED noticed that the official Jason Universe account put a cryptic eye emoji when asked about a potential Call of Duty x Friday the 13th crossover. This is far from official confirmation, and if this had been a CoD account posting, we might've been more inclined to believe it.

This isn't the first we've heard about Jason and his infamous hockey mask coming to CoD, and back when Horror, Inc. announced the new Jason Universe initiative to expand the franchise, tongues were wagging when the account started following the official CoD one. Dataminers also supposedly found evidence of Jason in the MW3, but that account was later suspended.

Even if MW3 has its own Halloween showstopper, it's possible Black Ops 6 will kick things off with its own horror lineup. Then again, as Treyarch has promised a more realistic game that will return to its mil-sim roots, we've been told outlandish skins like Nicki Minaj and Godzilla won't be part of this year's offering.

As much as we'd love to see Jason slice and dice enemies in CoD, it looks like it'll be another year of missing out on him. Friday the 13th is currently dormant as we wait for news of a potential reboot, but when/if we get another movie, maybe then we can talk about seeing Jason in CoD.
