Launch Weekend of the CDL season was not friendly to the New York Subliners. With a chip on their shoulders, the Subliners came into London looking hot. In the opening match of Week Two, New York dominated a strong Paris Legion team. It was a slaughter, New York won Map Two of S&D with a score of 6-1. Map Four was over from the beginning. The Subliners won Hardpoint 250-114. Could the New York Subliners build off of this performance and prove that Launch Weekend was a fluke? Let’s find out.

New York’s impressive opening performance was led by ZooMaa. He posted a 1.37 aK/D ratio through the series. ZooMaa stopped by after the match to chat with GGRecon regarding the Subliners imposing victory.

When asked how he felt about the match, ZooMaa responded that he thinks they performed “really well.” ZooMaa continued, “We knew going into it [Paris Legion] was going to be a good team ... We put in a lot of time to prepare for the match … I'm really proud of the team.”

ZooMaa went into detail about what went wrong on Launch Weekend resulting in his team only winning one total map through two series. ZooMaa said that while FaZe is a strong team, “it’s still a loss.” Along with their loss to FaZe, the Subliners were swept 3-0 by the London Royal Ravens. ZooMaa told us that he thinks “[the Subliners] are just as good as {London], if not better” and blamed the loss on the team coming out flat. He credited the talent on both teams but still believes the Subliners can win those matchups.

We asked ZooMaa to rank his team in comparison to the rest of the league. ZooMaa proclaimed, “top of the league when we want to be.” He told us that it is just about consistency. “As long as we keep practicing and doing our thing, I think we can be up there for sure.”

ZooMaa ended the exclusive interview by expressing his love for New York. “To represent one of the best cities in the world; it is truly humbling and it’s a blessing.”
