A potential Dead Rising reboot hints that Capcom could be about to bring back the classic undead-slaying banger for a whole new generation.

Dead Rising is a bit - well - dead. The game series started with an immediately iconic undead romp across a shopping mall, the one place that everyone thinks they'd flock to in an apocalypse. Although it was a punishing game, fans adored it enough for Capcom to make it an entire franchise.
But, as interest seemed to wane for each new title, the Dead Rising series petered out at the launch of the Xbox One with Dead Rising 4, and we haven't seen the franchise since. Its quality sadly flagged, and its charm dissolved. But thankfully, it looks like change could be peeking over the horizon.
A Dead Rising reboot could be on the way
According to journalist Jez Corden, there's a chance that Dead Island could be set to make a bold comeback for the first time since 2016.
Corden claimed that a Dead Rising reboot was on the way via Twitter. Someone responded to one of his tweets, indicating that they came to Xbox for Dead Rising, and now with dormancy in place, they're considering defecting to PlayStation.
Corden offered a word of advice. "If you're a Dead Rising fan there might be something on the horizon for you too…" he says. How ominous.
Dead Rising franchise "might be coming back"
Some fans have focussed on this tease, asking where exactly we can expect this new instalment in the Dead Rising franchise to land. One Twitter user asks if we can hope to see it land on Xbox, to which Corden replied, "Not sure on platforms, just heard the franchise might be coming back."
It's all a bit vague, so we'll leave it to you to trust the claims or not, but there's no doubt that there would be a big audience for the return of the series after all this time. Let's also remember Capcom Vancouver was shuttered in 2017, meaning development would have to be handled by someone else.
Following the idea of a Metal Gear Solid remake coming to PlayStation, an Xbox-exclusive Dead Rising would be welcome. Bring the mall back, you coward.
