DC Universe Online is one of those games that most players sleep on, but are secretly smashing the massively multiplayer online game behind the scenes.

Much like similar MMOs, the title doesn't quite have the playerbase you'd expect of it, given that it's an online game set in such a broad universe of beloved characters. But, it's clearly doing all that it needs to because it's been in operation for 12 years

Perhaps the trouble is that casual players simply don't know about DC Universe Online - but that could be about to change pretty drastically. It turns out, it's about to take a bold step into the new generation of gaming.

DC Universe Online Is Getting A New-Gen Upgrade

A brand-new roadmap has been revealed for DC Universe Online, and it has unveiled the upcoming new-gen upgrades for the game.

The game has been going for well over a decade, so fans are hugely appreciating the update in developer intentions. Although it might be some way off, we at least know that new-gen versions of the game are coming.

"Work will continue on our next gen console releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, due later this year," says the game, with us hopeful for a Q4 release.

This updated roadmap is divided into yearly quarters and revealed that among other updates, the "future" will bring a version of the game to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We don't have a date for the upgrade just yet, but we're sure that will come in due time, and hoping that we're not in for a The Witcher 3-grade wait.

What Else Is Coming To DC Universe Online?

The roadmap revealed by DC Universe Online has also announced that three new episodes will be coming to the game over the course of the year.

As well as new events like Attack of the Anit-Monitar, Tides of War and Save The Universe. There will also be a new emotes system, in case your Wonder Woman needed to hit the griddy.

It's an exciting time to be a fan of the game, and an even better time to get into it if you haven't already. Finally, the Joker can get sturdy, and you can be the person behind it.
