It was a debut week to remember for Byron "Prolute" Vera, who currently sits as an undefeated Call of Duty League professional, as victories against Los Angeles Guerrillas, Florida Mutineers, and reigning world champions Atlanta FaZe came in for OpTic Texas, despite the loss of Prolute's replacement Indervir "iLLeY" Dhaliwal.

Prolute was hauled into the starting line up for OpTic following an injury to iLLeY, who was expected to only miss the CDL Pro-Am as Jordon "General" General stepped in. However, iLLeY's thumb injury has unfortunately continued to be a problem for him, and amid a need for a flex player, rather than a quick fix AR like General, Prolute was pulled in thanks to some persuasion from Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro.

Now, as Prolute begins to shine in the CDL, his new OpTic Texas teammate has insisted that iLLeY is not being replaced long-term, and will return to the s-roster when he's fit.

Prolute Shines For OpTic Texas In iLLeY's Absence

Having been cast into the roster with just three days of practice, Prolute has taken to the OpTic team like a duck to water, topping the entire league's kill-death ratio in Stage 3, with a 1.38 score - coincidentally, OpTic's Dashy sits third, showing their dominance, while another rookie making his debut in Stage 3 sits second in Charlie "Scrappy" Hicks.

The fresh phenom also dropped a 1.6 K/D game in Search and Destroy over Atlanta FaZe, leaving some OpTic fans to think he has what it takes to stay in their roster long-term.

Dashy Insists iLLeY Will Return Despite Prolute's Form

After being quizzed on stream, Dashy praised both players, but insisted iLLeY remains irreplaceable. "Do I think Prolute is outperforming iLLeY right now? What do you mean outperforming? He's doing his thing," he said.

"Inder [iLLeY] is not getting replaced. Not getting replaced. You guys don't understand. The way we are playing right now is because of Inder."

Dashy also hailed Prolute's start and even implied that his arrival in the team was down to Dashy, even though it might just be a short-term fix. "Listen, I was the first one that Byron on the team, I knew how good he was, especially for the situation we are in. Byron's doing his thing though," he added.

OpTic's next fixtures are New York Subliners and LA Thieves, as they look to go undefeated in the Major 3 Qualifiers, where Prolute will finally get the chance to take to the CDL stage in Toronto.
