CoD fans are desperate for MW3's most 'broken' sniper to be nerfed

Any weapon that can one-shot kill in Call of Duty multiplayer is going to be difficult to balance, and that's certainly the case for snipers in Modern Warfare 3.

While the category requires a tonne accuracy from a player and the ability to quick scope, it can feel unfair for AR and SMG users who have no way to counter the rifles in the hands of a sharpshooter.

Currently, most snipers are in a good spot in the meta, but one has transformed into a complete menace that countless community members are abusing. We're obviously talking about the Longbow, and players have now demanded the devs nerf this "busted" sniper.

MW3 community demand nerfs to "busted" Longbow sniper

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user RandomGoof567 decided to vent their frustration about the Longbow "infestation" in multiplayer and how "busted" the sniper is in the current meta.

For them, the gun's ability to delete enemies in a single hit is "stupid" and paired with its snappy ADS time, it wipes players off the map in the blink of an eye. This opinion is shared by a lot of the community, who cannot believe the devs haven't hit the Longbow with balance changes yet.

"Every time I play 10v10 there’s 3 dudes on the other team with Longbows literally going 70-13 every single game," said one user, with another claiming, "It really does need a nerf, I used it on Meat last night just for funsies and it turned the game into a point-and-click adventure."

The counterargument from sniper fans is that it requires a lot of skill to pilot the weapon, and you should be rewarded for landing consistent upper-body shots. However, it's clear a lot of competitors are growing more and more tired of being one-shot consistently every match.

The Longbow is a powerhouse in multiplayer as it has everything you need in a sniper to completely take over a match. Packed with damage, mobility, a snappy ADS time and plenty of ammo, the gun is an absolute monster - if you have the skill to use it properly.

Despite calls for nerfs though, it only has a 0.83% pick rate according to WZStats in multiplayer, so it'll be interesting to see whether devs believe it needs changes.

Most players want the Longbow to only insta-kill with a headshot, but that may shut the weapon out of the meta completely. All eyes will be on Season 2 Reloaded to see whether the sniper finally gets hit with a nerf.
