Although the overpowered class found itself on the Gentlemen's Agreement list of banned weapons in the Black Ops Cold War season, snipers have been a staple of competitive Call of Duty since its existence, especially in Search and Destroy.

With the ability to pick off opponents at range with a single pull of the trigger, albeit with only one sniper permitted per team, snipers have been a pivotal part of Search and Destroy gameplay on the elite stage for years. Being able to change the tide of a round with a single split-second opening, only a select few players have been able to master this craft, alongside the usual SMG or Assault Rifle class needed for respawn modes like Capture the Flag and Hardpoint.

So with few players rising to the cream of the crop, Call of Duty professional and three-time world champion James "Clayster" Eubanks has toyed with the community, opening the debate as to which pro is the best sniper ever.

Who Is The Best Sniper In Call Of Duty history?

Taking to Twitter, Clayster suggested that the top three snipers of all time are Chris "Simp" Lehr, Matthew "FormaL" Piper, and Jared "Nagafen" Harrell, leaving many people surprisingly content with the top of the tree.

Simp's dominance since rising to fame in Black Ops 4 was epitomized with his first-season craft, including his historic performance for eUnited against Units at the 2019 World Championships.

Meanwhile, FormaL's consistency with the single-chambered weapon since joining the scene in 2014 has his name right alongside the young phenom's. As for Nagafen, despite not being a proficient player in the last two years, the crafty American was the early marksman in Call of Duty history, especially during his time at Evil Geniuses in 2016/17.

Honourable Mentions

Many other people threw the likes of Brandon "Dashy" Otell into the ring, who famously matched Simp so well in the Modern Warfare era with a signature trade, whilst the resurgent SMG lsayer Johnathon "John" Perez was also mentioned.

Other old-school players such as Jeremy "StuDyy" Astacio were also in the discussion, whilst OpTic Texas CEO Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez joked that his name should also be thrown into the hat following a montage way back from Call of Duty 4.
