Colossal Order has been trying its hardest to relay the foundations of its wonky architectural release that was Cities: Skylines 2, having recently launched its first DLC of this year in a bid to cover over the cracks in the pavement.

But just weeks after the Beach Property DLC was released, adding more luxurious offerings to waterfront abodes, Cities: Skylines 2 has only continued to be review-bombed on Steam.

Now, Colossal Order has taken off its hi-vis and replaced it with a black coat, as it throws a funeral for the DLC by offering refunds to any purchaser and delays the upcoming console release.

The recently released Cities: Skylines 2 DLC has cemented itself at rock-bottom of the Steam reviews list, becoming the worst-rated item on the platform, after being launched with a string of massive bugs, glitches, and technical issues.

Following the review bombs, the developers have now taken to social media to apologise to fans and reveal that refunds are on the way for the DLC.

"We see and understand the disappointment many of you have expressed," Colossal Order said in a statement. "We let you down," it added.

"The very first thing we're doing is to compensate those who purchased Beach Properties. We will change the pack to be a free addition to the games, refund it to the extent possible, and provide additional content within the Ultimate Edition."

Cities: Skylines 2 delayed for console release

Having faced the wrath of Steam, the developers have now confined that Cities: Skylines 2 will not be launching on consoles in "Spring 2024" as previously stated, and instead will be kicking the can all the way down the road to October.

"We have been struggling to get Cities: Skylines II to the necessary level of optimization for a console release, but are now hopeful that an upcoming build delivery in April will demonstrate sufficient progress for us to progress with a release candidate, and then a release build targeted for October," its statement said.

Colossal Order has also revealed that the Bridges and Ports Expansion is being delayed until 2025 for Steam players, hopeful that the simulation game can reach a point where it can be successful.
