Warzone has got a few problems. That's just par for the course at this point. The game has been held back by its faults, refusing to let the battle royale take the crown for the genre despite its huge popularity - cheaters, hacks, bugs and wonky balancing have all deeply impacted the experience.

This myriad of problems is only making Call of Duty players yearn for the upcoming Warzone 2 more and more by the day. But, it seems that the team might not be as against fans as they think, as one developer has committed to changing one of the most frustrating elements of Warzone's movement.

Will Warzone Fix Slide Cancelling?

Slide cancelling, as a technique, is widely debated among Warzone fans - as it's a move with a high difficulty ceiling that gives a lot of players a tactical advantage. Love it or hate it, slide cancelling looks like it could come under the knife at Raven Software.

The senior creative director at Raven, Ted Timmins, has shared in a thread of tweets how he feels about the movement practice, and that he'd be willing to dedicate time to fix it. Given the long list of things that need fixing inside Warzone, slide cancelling might not be high up on the list.

"If the slide cancelling vote comes back as a win for its removal and I can finally have an excuse to remove this exploitable (sic) accessibility ceiling, you can have mine," he said. "I've been looking for a good excuse to fix slide cancelling for almost a year now, my unused towel can be the sacrifice for the greater good of controllers everywhere."

Fans React To Timmins' Commitment

While most fans are glad to see the prospect of the technique's removal, many are wondering why it wasn't pulled from the game a long time ago.

"Honestly 100% but why has it not been removed yet?" says one reply. "I question this a lot." It seems as though players are glad to see it go - but just as many don't see the point in its removal.

"Slide cancelling is one of the only skill gaps in the game," says another comment. "Being able to do so efficiently lets you peek corners safely, avoid gun fire, and move around more swiftly. Removing it would be such a waste. Learning advanced tech is what makes grinding a game fun."

It's obvious that the notion of binning the slide cancel is controversial, but it'd likely be a strong move from Raven Software if it was to say goodbye. After all, the game doesn't have long left before Warzone 2 arrives, and it'd be a final effort to pull fans back. Let's hope it works.
