Call of Duty, like many other games in the world, can give one an undesirable urge to rip out your hair, burn an Xbox console to a pile of ash, or volley your controller over the fence and into oblivion. For all of its entertainment, it can induce complete and utter rage. Hence, the birth of the rage quit.

On one hand, a rage quit is a self-preserving mental health barrier, preventing you from the torment of laggy servers, terrible teammates, or sweaty opponents. On the flip side, the selfish act can only leave your alliances stranded with no hope of a bolstering of reinforcements, especially on a four versus four ranked mode.

So, to preserve competitive integrity in the Call of Duty: Vanguard ranked play, Treyarch has added a penalty for a rage-quitting radical and even implemented a retributive punishment for those who have already been prolific.

Treyarch Add Penalties For Vanguard Ranked Rage Quitting

Having made a range of adjustments to the Vanguard ranked play, including the restricting weapons to match the CDL Gentlemen's Agreement, the developers also released a fix for people who have been disconnecting from play on multiple occasions, indicating that they are using the 'dashboard' trick to intentionally leave games when they've had enough.

Previously, Treyarch added penalties for new offenders in the form of matchmaking delays, adding an increasingly severe ban from finding games for the more frequent quitters.

Now, they have also looked back into the archives to adjust the skill rating of players who quit, with one individual being stung with a colossal 3,600 SR loss.

Call of Duty Player Hit with -3,600 SR Loss In Ranked Play

Having added the SR adjustments, Treyarch admitted that, "The top offender has disconnected 280+ times since Ranked Play’s launch," before adding a cheeky quip towards the individual. "Enjoy your -2000 SR loss, chief. We hope it was worth it," they added.

However, the 2,000 SR loss wasn't even close to their punishment.

Twitter user "LukasTBE" took to the platform to show off a brutal -3,600 adjustment, going from Challenger 1 with a 4,681 skill rating back down to Advanced 5 with a 1,006 SR. Considering you can win up to 60 points from a single game, barring you finish top of the leaderboard and your team wins, it will now take the player a minimum of 60 games to get back to their original ranking.

Challenger 1 is the highest rank possible in Vanguard Ranked, putting them in the top 250 players in their region.

It's safe to say, if you don't fancy the climb back to the top of the Call of Duty mountain to the zipper echelons, it'll be better to serve out your losses rather than rage quit.
