The next Call of Duty has got a lot of players excited.

While Vanguard has already slightly petered out with fans of the franchise, struggling to maintain its love, fans are looking forward to the future of the series - which is surprisingly, still looking backwards. A sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare reboot will be the next instalment for Call of Duty, which has been greeted positively as many consider it the best of the most recent CoDs.

And now, as we prepare for its arrival, it looks like we might need to hurry up - because it might be coming sooner than we're ready for.

Insider Suggests That MW2 Is Coming Very Soon

One industry insider has suggested that the first look at the new Call of Duty game could be coming very soon, and in turn, it could mean that the game would be with us earlier than we've come to expect the series to turn out a title.

Leaker RalphsValve has come to Twitter to share an image of their own personal countdown to April 30, with a background image from Modern Warfare. Ralph seems to imply that some kind of announcement or teaser will be coming on this date, which is unheard of for the franchise, often opting to save its reveals for later on in the year.

If it turns out that a new hint at the newest Call of Duty is coming at the end of April, then it could set us up for a fresh title much earlier than usual.

When Is MW2 Set To Launch?

We'd usually expect a new Call of Duty to launch around November, in time for the Holiday push - but if RalphsValve is to be believed and we're getting a new teaser quite early on, who knows, we could be on for July/August launch.

With a sequel to Warzone on the way too, Call of Duty may be planning to stagger its releases, making an early release make sense. Either way, we're still going to have to wait and see.

Modern Warfare 2 has a lot riding on it - and if reveals are going to start trickling out this month, then the team must be pretty confident. Bring it on.
