Call of Duty's boots have been planted firmly on the ground for years now, following the jet pack era, but it seems that some of the long-time franchise lovers fancy dusting off the Exo suits.

At the time, Advanced Warfare was one of the least popular games in the series, with many people not getting used to the movement mechanics.

Yet, after rumours sparked of a sequel, fans are now imploring that Advanced Warfare 2 should be made, and are showcasing why.

Fans Beg For An Advanced Warfare Sequel

With Warzone 2's movement mechanics being slashed from the first BR title, Call of Duty players are now reminiscing over Advanced Warfare, which had the most elaborate movement yet and created a fair skill gap in the community.

Some players have even pulled out their old consoles already and redownloaded 2014's Advanced Warfare, which has ramped up the hype for a sequel.

Retrospectively, many fans now dub AW as one of the top five Call of Duty games of all time, and with the new engines supporting this type of game, a sequel could rocket to the top of the tree.

"Imagine it on the IW8 Engine," one fan wondered, while another added, "Exo Zombies 2 would be crazy." A third added "Top 5 CoDs, IMO," and a fourth concluded, "That game was beyond fun. Campers couldn’t exist cause they’d just get turned on by someone good. So much love for that game."

Are we getting Advanced Warfare 2?

Recent rumours of an Advanced Warfare 2 being under development were debunked, with Call of Duty's future uncertain. That doesn't mean to say that we're not getting one though, it just means Sledgehammer Games haven't started its development.

Other leaks suggest that a Vanguard sequel was denied by Activision, leaving the door open for another futuristic game instead, but nothing has been confirmed.

With another 18 months or so left of Modern Warfare 2 and a further year or two devoted to Treyarch's Gulf War game, Sledgehammer might just get the nod for AW2 if fans make enough noise...
