Who'd have thought the team behind 'butt jiggling' game Goddess of Victory: Nikke had one thing on its mind when developing Stellar Blade? Well, it turns out that Shift Up Second Eve Studios is sticking with what it knows best and is focusing on a certain 'asset' in Stellar Blade

While Shift Up is typically known for mobile games, Stellar Blade marks a change of pace as the studio's first AAA release. The PlayStation 5 exclusive might not be the console's most-hyped arrival, but apparently, there's a key feature that will appeal to a certain demographic.

For those who haven't heard of Stellar Blade, it's a typical third-person combat game where you fight aliens in a futuristic setting. Everything from Fortnite to the Resident Evil 4 remake has locked us into third-person over-the-shoulder, but do you ever get bored looking at the same generic character model?

Speaking to GamesRadar, Stellar Blade has confirmed Eve's model was designed with an emphasis on her posterior. Game Director Hyung-Tae Kim confirmed (via translator) that Eve was based on the body scan of Korean model Shin Jae-eun.

"When it comes to the design, we put special attention on the back of the character because the player is always facing the back of the character when they're playing," said Kim. "That's what they see the most of, so we thought this was pretty important."

As for Eve's more adult design, he added, "I would like to see someone who is better-looking than myself. That's what I want. I don't want to see something normal; I want to see something more ideal. I think that is very important in a form of entertainment. This is, after all, entertainment targeted for adults."

It's clear that fandom is currently fixated on a certain part of Eve, although Kim concludes that the 'ideal' character is "someone that can show their own charms and attractiveness without damaging the narrative or the setting of the game." Let's hope that Eve is more than just a butt.

While it might be archaic to reduce a female character just to her ass, it's unfortunately still a way to sell games. Does Bayonetta really need to be wearing such little clothing, and did Lara Croft really need big ol' triangular breasts in the OG Tomb Raider?

Thankfully, it's not just women, and remember when Dead by Daylight found itself in hot water for nerfing Pyramid Head's assCyberpunk 2077 sold itself on the idea you could have realistic sex with characters, although the devs had to ask you to stop banging Keanu Reeves

As VR games continue to try to become the in thing, there's a growing number of titles with some pretty immersive NSFW ideas. It's a shame that Stellar Blade's Eve is being marketed as a jiggling ass, but if it sells copies, you can bet Shift Up will make the most of it.
