As Black Ops 6 prepares to launch, the lines have been drawn for the race to complete mastery camos as Frank Woods awaits with a starting pistol.
The Mastery Camo race is always quite enthralling, as players get used to each individual weapon and complete cheesy challenges to unlock new skin wraps to flex the coolest appearances.
Black Ops 6 will continue this trend, and now, the ticker tape at the finishing line is already gleaming with a familiar diamond-encrusted pattern.
Black Ops 6 Achievement list leaks confirm Diamond mastery camo
When it comes to Mastery Camos, each series has its own signature touch. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games took a similar approach in the back-to-back Modern Warfare titles, having a four-tier system (Gold/Gilded, Platinum/Forged, Platinum/Priceless, and Orion/Interstellar).
Treyarch previously favoured a three-pronged attack, with Gold, Diamond, and Dark Matter (with another triple threat available for Zombies players).
Now, the fabled Diamond skin has been confirmed for a comeback, as leaked Black Ops 6 Achievements include a nod to the mastery camo.
According to Insider Gaming, one Achievement will be titled "Camos Are Forever" and will involve unlocking Diamond Camo in either Multiplayer or Zombies.
Interestingly, this details that Zombies and Multiplayer might share mastery camo this year, at least until the second tier of rewards. It remains likely that at least one mastery camo will be exclusive to each game mode.
The Diamond camo is usually gold-plated and looks like a pack-a-punched version of the first master camo but is completely bejewelled.
Previous Treyarch Call of Duty games have taken different approaches to Diamond; the original version in Black Ops 2 saw the entire weapon decorated in small diamonds, while the most recent version in Cold War favoured more gold on the attachments sections while the body was glittered.
The final mastery camos have yet to be revealed, but it does look like the race to have your guns glistening in jewels is already heating up.
