Barbie Xbox is on the way from Microsoft
We're just weeks away from the cinematic event of the year, and no, we don't mean Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Greta Gerwig's long-awaited Barbie movie is on the way, and with it already becoming a viral sensation, Microsoft is going hard on the celebrations.
Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, Barbie brings Mattel's legendary doll to life in live-action. Microsoft has delivered some truly out-there Xbox collaborations since the launch of the Series X and S in 2020, but the Barbie Xbox could be the wildest yet.
What is the Barbie Xbox?
Microsoft has announced a series of Barbie-themed content, with the big one being the Barbie Xbox Series S. Boasting the same hot pink that's Barbie's favourite colour, the Xbox Series S has the logo of the Barbie movie and would look at home in your very own DreamHouse.
Microsoft describes it as "one of our most playful custom console designs in recent years." Alongside the Barbie Xbox Series S, there are Xbox Wireless Controller faceplates that give you more outfit options than Barbie herself. Obviously, there's a catch though.
Just days after Microsoft hiked the price of the Series X, there's another kick in the crotch that it doesn't look like we can buy the Barbie Xbox Series S. Instead, we're told you can win one from July 10 via @Xbox and Microsoft Rewards.
Forza Horizon 5 adds Barbie crossover
This isn't the end of our Barbie bonanza. You can race like Barbie and Ken, with Forza Horizon 5 adding Barbie's car. The classic 1956 Chevrolet Corvette EV Corvette and 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup have landed in-game as virtual versions.
Anyone who plays Forza Horizon 5 will be gifted the Barbie cars. You can simply download them from the in-game Message Center, and they'll race into your garage. Finally, Microsoft is showing its diversity by taking 10 popular Barbie dolls and giving them a gaming makeover. These can be won via an international sweepstakes.
We've previously seen Microsoft release a Far Cry Xbox, one honouring SpongeBob SquarePants, and one for the upcoming Starfield. As well as Barbie hitting cinemas on July 21, just imagine playing with your Dream Camper in Hot Wheels Unleashed on your Barbie Xbox Series S. Ah, we can dream.
