The competitive itch in many esports players is one that's not easily scratched, and over in Call of Duty, Warzone players are quickly becoming frustrated at the lack of events to soothe their craving.

Now, the second-most decorated Warzone esports player has slammed the battle royale as "dead" amid a hole in the competitive calendar, and instead, has opted to find joy in other branches of Call of Duty.

With only the World Series of Warzone tournament to look forward to, Aydan "Aydan" Conrad and other Warzone content creators have flocked to the standard multiplayer experience to chance their arms against CDL professionals - purely out of boredom and a desire to compete.

Aydan Slams  Warzone Esports Scene As 'Dead'

With the third iteration of the World Series of Warzone coming up in September, Aydan has now taken his aim off Caldera and fired a shot at the developers. He's claimed that the scene is dead because of a complete lack of developer-backed tournaments.

"Warzone doesn’t have any tourneys, I'm not even joking. Warzone is so dead," he said on stream. "We had two [Warzone events] on Verdansk, but that's because we had two years on Verdansk, right? They're just going to do another World Series of Warzone, I don't know they probably already had that s**t planned and they have to do it."

"Besides that, there are literally no tournaments and it just goes to show that none of the tournament organisers want to invest any money into this game because it f**king blows."

Warzone Players Take On CDL Pros Following Lack Of Tournaments

Instead of playing Warzone, given that there is no competitive edge anymore, players have now kicked off a friendly drama against the Call of Duty League professionals, taking to 1v1 matches to see who is the most skilled.

Instigated by Aydan and CDL pros like Daunte "Sib" Gray, the two branches of Call of Duty superstars are now making their own fun by hosting 1v1 show matches. So far, Aydan has beaten Sib and lost to Toronto Ultra protegee Thomas "Scrappy" Ernst and Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto.

He's not the only player bored of a lack of Warzone tournaments either, as "Diaz Biffle" has also taken on CDL stars like Anthony "Methodz" Zinni and Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro in a 1v1 exhibition.

With Warzone 2 in the pipeline, these players will be looking at Activision to implement an esports circuit akin to Apex Legends and Fortnite, otherwise, we might see them switch over and try and break into the CDL.
