Astralis' in-game leader, Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander, has officially put pen to paper to extend his contract for three years, which is set to keep him at the organisation until after his 29th birthday.

The great Dane is arguably one of the best players to grace Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and has been a statue-esque worshipped figure at Astralis since signing in 2016. As part of the dynasty side that has won a string of major's since gla1ve's arrival, the fear was that he may look for a new adventure as the whole teams' contracts were set to expire.

However, Astralis fans can release a sigh of relief, as their ever-influential IGL has now confirmed a three-year contract extension, keeping him at the org until 2024.

"I am Astralis by heart and no matter how I look at it I feel at home here. It’s an organization that always strives to develop the game and the players – and it’s ingrained in everyone that we compete to win the biggest titles," gla1ve said in a statement.

He continued to say "To me, it’s all about being somewhere where I can see myself progress as a player while surrounded by people with great ambitions and professional colleagues."

The decision to stick with Astralis seemingly has in mind more than just the game itself, as he added "I’m expecting a child with my girlfriend this Fall and when I look around there is just no other place I would feel like I could get the same safety and flexibility when it comes to that."

"It means a lot to me and I’m excited for the coming three years where we will be lifting a lot more trophies."

Astralis' contract woes don't end there though. It is expected that head coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen could be leaving after five and a half years at the Danish organisation.

The other long-standing players such as Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth have yet to confirm their future at the org. Both players are entering the twilight of their careers, just a gla1ve is, with the pair being 29 and 25 respectively.

Recently, gla1ve admitted "It's probably going to take quite a lot of time" to return to greatness, following the departure of Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz earlier this year.
