Sony is trying to wow with its PlayStation Now lineup in April 2021. As the cloud gaming service enters another month, a new trio of terrific titles has been added to the roster. With these latest additions, some are calling it the 'best month ever' for PlayStation Now.

Following a complete revamp, PS Now listened to its critics and slashed its monthly price (permanently) to $9.99/£8.99. When it comes to Sony subscription services, PlayStation players are largely split into two camps.

Whether you want PlayStation Plus and a varied crop of new titles each month, or whether you want the much bigger cloud library of PS Now, there's something for everyone. Unlike Microsoft's relatively simple subscription services, Sony has been criticised for forcing us to choose between PS Now and PS Plus (or paying for both).

For many, PS Plus got the jump on PS Now - especially with the all-star PS Plus Collection for PS5. All that could change with the best-ever PS Now lineup for April.

PlayStation Now has an amazing April lineup

Posting on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony confirmed Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, Gearbox Software's Borderlands 3, and Hinterland Studios' The Long Dark are all landing on PS Now. April's best ever PlayStation Now lineup is going live from April 6, and to celebrate, Sony is offering players a free seven-day trial.

Despite its flaws, PS Now has one of the best libraries out there and packs 800 PS4, PS3, and PS2 games to stream. In particular, Marvel's Avengers is the big one here. Launching in October 2020, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Tomb Raider reboot series wanted to cash in on the success of open-world superhero games.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of Rocksteady's Arkham games and Insomniac's Spider-Man, Marvel's Avengers had grand ambitions to break into the genre. Although the game was praised for its main story and featuring Kamala Khan as the central figure, the troublesome title was slammed for its lacklustre multiplayer.

Thankfully, a continued roadmap of DLCs has been bringing more fan-favourite characters to the party. Another relatively recent game is Borderlands 3. Rounding off the lauded trilogy of Borderlands games that started back in 2009, 2019's Borderlands 3 was another beloved trip back to Pandora. With the Borderlands movie on the way and hopes of a fourth main series game, now is a great time to revisit the games.

Finally, The Long Dark is this month's indie game, which throws players into the wilderness of a geomagnetic disaster. This is a very different type of survival game that doesn't feature zombies or cannibals, just you against the ravages of Mother Nature.

April's PS Now is worth it

With Marvel's Avengers haemorrhaging players since the game's launch, it seems Square Enix might've partnered with PS Now to bring it to a whole new audience.

For those who pay monthly for PS Now and think they can rattle through Marvel's Avengers, Borderlands 3, and The Long Night in a month, it's absolutely a no-brainer to subscribe for April. However, in terms of long-term payoff, there's an important piece of information to take note of.

Both Marvel's Avengers and Borderlands 3 are only part of PS Now temporarily. According to the post, Marvel's Avengers is live on PS Now until July 5, 2021, while Borderlands 3 is available until September 29, 2021. That means you have just three months to make the most of this superhero spectacular.

Another drawback (via IGN) is the fact Marvel's Avengers will be the PS4 version. A Square Enix spokesperson has confirmed you'll be able to transfer over to your PS5 version if you choose to buy. Still, it's a shame to miss out on the souped-up next-gen version.

PS Now boasts everything from The Last of Us to The Devil May Cry 4, Red Dead Redemption to the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, but there's a distinct lack of newer games.

The likes of 2018's God of War have been locked to the PS Plus Collection for PS5, meaning PS Now isn't the all-rounder it sometimes masquerades as. Will you be enjoying PlayStation Now in April, or is this one lineup that deserves to be snapped by Thanos?
