As arguably the greatest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) players of the current generation, if not of all time, the debate has always been rife as to who is the true 'goat': Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut or Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev.

Now, another CS:GO Great has thrown his tuppence to the fountain and has compared the dynamic debate to one that football fans will be familiar with.

Apex says Zywoo versus S1mple is like Messi and Ronaldo

Having cast a watchful eye over the progress of ZywOo during his IGL tenure at Team Vitality, fellow Frenchman Dan "apEX" Madesclaire has now declared that he is the "chosen one", and has compared his natural ability to that of Lionel Messi.

Speaking in an interview with Dexerto, apEX said, "I like football a lot, and for me, Messi is like ZywOo. Ronaldo is more like s1mple, a really hard worker. The other two are just gifted."

Now playing out of France for capital-based Paris Saint Germain, Messi is often regarded as a "god" of football, having been blessed with pure talent, and the biblical praise for ZywOo was echoed by apEX. He continued to say, "[ZywOo] is like an angel falling from the sky."

Vitality enjoyed a stellar end to 2021, after falling into the shadow of s1mple's Na'Vi, winning the Intel Extreme Masters XVI - Winter, propelling the roster back into the upper echelons of European CS:GO

However, with a Danish overhaul coming into the roster, with Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Emil "Magisk" Reif, and coach Danny "zonic" Sorensen coming into the previously all-French squad, the jury is still out as to whether the Astralis touch can be combined with Vitality's potential.

Entering the BLAST Premier Spring Group Stages, ahead of the Showdown in April, Vitality's new-look team will look to rally behind their Messi-like AWPer and take down G2 Esports to book a comfier flight to the finals.
