AI Creates Haunting Prediction Of Last Selfie Ever Taken
AI has come a very long way, and in the blink of an eye, has become an absolute horror. As AI begins to claw its way out of the uncanny valley, it's slowly but surely getting far freakier - starting to gain sentience and replicate human life more than ever before.
Frankly, it seems as though the "smart" people behind its development were never smart enough to watch anything from the Terminator franchise as we careen toward a Skynet future with curious scientists at the helm. We've ignored the climate disaster, so we might as well create sentient computers to kill us before our negligence does. It might seem bleak, but strap in, because it gets bleaker.
What Does The World's Last Selfie Look Like?
A Discord bot has managed to spit out its own interpretation of what the last selfie ever taken will look like, and it's perhaps the most depressing thing you'll see today.
The images (of which there are a few) show humanoid figures with flaking sheet-white skin, hollowed eyes and standing in front of the remnants of any society and skulls aplenty. There's a grim permeating smog and a horrible atmosphere that really makes you uncomfortable.
It's pretty telling of where the Discord bot thinks where we're headed with our negligence of the planet and each other. It's a bit much for a Discord bot to manage, and is a bit nerve-wracking, to be honest. Suddenly we feel like we could do with a very hot shower.
What Else Can The Discord Bot Do?
Plagued by the horror that the AI spat at us, we figured we'd cleanse our palettes with something a little cosier, so we took the AI for a spin ourselves. We asked the MidJourney Discord to show us a hyper-realistic Kirby, King Dedede's exciting day trip to Thorpe Park, and Pikachu ripping up some serious waves... and this is what it gave us.
The AI is incredibly smart, but that's what we like the least about it. It means that artificial intelligence is getting wiser, and if we're trying to outlast the machines, it might be time to pack it up While it's here - and before it goes full Terminator 2: Judgement Day - we might as well get it to show us some goofy s**t.
