After rumours of Dead by Daylight could be coming to the small screen, they proved to be wrong in the best way. Because, it's coming to the big screen instead.

An adaptation of the horror game is being worked into a movie by the legendary Blumhouse Productions - the team behind modern horror classics and the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's movie.

What do we know about the Dead by Daylight movie?

James Wan is also attached, as his Atomic Monster production studio will be looking after the film alongside Blumhouse.

“We couldn't be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the ‘Dead by Daylight’ universe," the executive vice president of Behaviour Interactive tells Variety.

"At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments, together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft ‘Dead by Daylight’s’ killer entrance onto the big screen."

James Wan - DBD is a "love letter to the world of horror"

To have a new movie based on the property on the way is exciting enough, but to have Saw and The Conjuring mastermind James Wan attached makes it all the more compelling.

"In Dead by Daylight the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains," he says. "Perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation. We’re big fans of the game at Atomic Monster, and are thrilled to be teaming up with Blumhouse to bring this frighteningly visceral world to the big screen.”

It's a big deal, and while details are sparse right now, Dead by Daylight is likely to make for a horror adaptation for the ages. We just hope it's got that signature Blumhouse insanity when it comes to our screens.
