As a new season of Fortnite approaches, it's been confirmed that the old Fortnite map is coming back, leaving OG loopers wondering when they'll be able to jump back into their favourite classic locations.

The OG Fortnite map holds a special place in many of our hearts, serving as a reminder of simpler times and evoking strong feelings of Fortnite-related nostalgia.

Now that it's been confirmed by Epic Games that the OG Fortnite map is finally returning, the question is, when is the game's old map coming back?

The old Fortnite map is coming back to the popular battle royale on Friday, November 3, 2023. This was confirmed by the game's official social media accounts, so we know it's definitely happening.

This is the same date that the current season of Fortnite is scheduled to conclude, so that means you'll be able to jump into the OG map on that very same day - most likely after a few hours of downtime.

How do we know the old Fortnite map is coming back?

Epic Games has been dropping serious in-game and out-of-game hints and teasers relating to the return of the OG map. For example, Kado Thorne's time machine is set to 2018 07 12, or July 12, 2018.

This date corresponds with the start of Chapter 1: Season 5. Now that the Heist Crew has seized the time machine and moved it to Frenzy Fields, all sorts of relics from Chapter 1 Season 5 have popped up around it.

Furthermore, Epic Games sent out a box of teasers to select Fortnite content creators. The package included a vinyl with the old map engraved on it and an audio recording of the original lobby music track. Also inside the box were pins with references to Chapter 1 of Fortnite and a note that read, "Thank you for supporting us from the beginning and for being part of the origins of Fortnite. Now you have the chance to start again."

If you still aren't convinced, Epic Games has even shared a tweet with the caption "Sprint back to Chapter 1" and the date November 3, 2023, so it's safe to say the rumours are true.

Do we know how long the OG map will remain in Fortnite?

Sadly, it's rumoured that the OG map won't exist in the battle royale playlists for very long. Popular Fortnite leakers seem to think this new variant of the old Fortnite map will evolve rapidly, progressing from Chapter 1: Season 5 to Chapter 1: Season X throughout November, before being replaced by a fresh Island in December.

So, if you have an affinity for the old map, you better make the most of its temporary reinstatement!

Thankfully, you may still be able to play the old Fortnite map even when it's no longer accessible in the battle royale playlists. It's believed that the old Fortnite map will transition into an editable Island in Creative and that Creators will be able to make their own Experiences using the OG map.

It's a homecoming for the old Fortnite map! While much about the upcoming season of Fortnite remains a mystery, you can rest easy knowing that, after all these years, the OG map is indeed coming back.
