You thankfully won't have to spend too long diving into this VALORANT update, as the 8.09 patch notes don't go too far beyond tweaks to Brimstone.

Not every update in the game can - or frankly needs to be a big one, as the patch notes schedule gives plenty of space for those short but necessary adjustments.

Agent updates

Brimstone

  • Sky Smoke (E)
    • Radius increased from 410 to 415
    • UI targeting size updated so that the outer edge properly reflects the size of the smoke

This is less of a discreet balancing update and more of a quality-of-life change with a little boost to Brimstone's kit.

It should now be much more clear what exact shape his Sky Smoke ability will take on the map, and the small radius increase should also bring it in line with contemporaries like Omen. Now the onus is on you to put them in the right place!

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in you losing your crosshair profiles
  • Fixed an issue where the 'Killed By' feed on Combat Reports was incorrect
  • Fixed bullet tracers still being visible after being turned off in 'Settings' if the player fires away from the map
  • Fixed an issue where the client would freeze after a game ended, requiring a client restart to continue

You can find more tips on our VALORANT homepage, including all of the best crosshair codes to improve your aim, a way to find out how much money you've spent, and a complete weapon tier list if you're not sure what guns to buy.
