If you're wondering how the Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel crossplay system works, we've got you covered. Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel surprised dropped onto a litany of platforms on January 19, and now players are swarming into to duel one another and build their decks. It's a free-to-play trading card game, similar to experiences like Hearthstone, but with a Yu-Gi-Oh flair that has been prevalent since the anime first launched. So, for an explanation of how the Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel crossplay works, read on.

Before the game was surprise launched, Konami officially announced that Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel would have crossplay and cross-save capabilities. This means you can play the game on your Nintendo Switch against a PC user, and later on you can launch the title on a mobile device and still use the same profile. Also, any decks and cards you acquire during play will be saved to your profile, along with the currency you earn, and your general stats, such as how many games you have won or lost.

The cross-save functionality needs to be enabled by accessing the 'Submenu' and then the 'Data Transfer' page. On here you can link your Konami ID with your game data, which will allow you to keep your data saved across different platforms.

When selecting the 'Duel' option in the main menu - which is how you find a matchmaking battle - there are no obvious options for changing how crossplay works. It seems the system is therefore on by default, and means players on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android can all seamlessly play against each other, which opens up the population massively. There is also an in-game friends list, which isn't restricted by platform either, allowing you to add your friends on any device.

That's how the Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel crossplay works, along with the cross-save function. Keep your eyes peeled on GGRecon for some more Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel guides coming soon.
