VALORANT episode 5 act 1 is set to go live on June 22, which is a Wednesday. That gives players six days before the next update as of writing.

  • We also have a method of changing your VALORANT FOV if you don't like the game's default of 103.

VALORANT Episode 5 Act 1 New Map

The latest map to join the game is called Pearl, making the eighth map for the game. It is directly inspired by Portuguese culture, and is set in an underwater city on Omega-Earth, which will kick off a new narrative arc for the game that elaborates on the O-E more.

The map comes with no extra mechanics or gimmicks, and is more straightforward compared to recent maps. It's designed with two bomb sites and three different lanes - the more compact mid-lane, and the longer-range wings. Like all map releases, Pearl will have an unranked queue for two weeks when you can just play that map.

Riot has been teasing an aquarium or water-based map for a while now. They posted a teaser on Twitter related to an aquarium, and one of the recent premium skin lines was aquatic-based.

The newest skinline that will launch with VALORANT episode 5 act 1 is called Prelude to Chaos, and is directly inspired by the weapons of classic sci-fi FPS games. Each skin comes with the whole shebang, featuring transformations, custom animations, visual effects, custom audio, a finisher, kill banner, and different variants. The bundle features a two-handed sword for the melee weapon, a Vandal skin, Operator skin, Shorty skin, and Stinger skin, costing 8700 VP in total.

Of course with a new episode and act, there comes a new season and battlepass full of skins, players cards, gun buddies, and sprays to equip. You can see some of the player cards that have been added above, and it comes with three skinlines, Shimmer, Spitfire, and Task Force 809.

Some of the free highlights include the Shimmer Classic, Operation: Vacation player card, That's a Blowout spray, and the Perfect Pattern gun buddy. The paid highlights include the Task Force 809 Knife, Task Force 809 Phantom, Spitfire Operator, Enter the Duelists player card, Never Forget Leg Day spray, and Cat Tactics gun buddy.

VALORANT Episode 5 Act 1 Extras

In addition to the new map, skin line, and battlepass, there are some extra changes coming to episode 5 act 1. Firstly, there will be a new VALORANT rank added to competitive called Ascendant, which is above Diamond and below Immortal. The developers did this to try and better reflect people's abilities and alter the current rank distribution.

Shortly before the new episode drops, on June 20 there will be a brand-new CGI trailer that details the new Omega-Earth narrative. For esports, the map pool will be lowered to 7 due to the additional map, and Split will be rotated out for the time being. Finally, there are also some changes and bug fixes coming in the 5.0 patch.

That's all for our breakdown of VALORANT episode 5 act 1, and now you know about the brand-new map called Pearl, along with the new skins, battlepass, rank, and story trailer.

If you've run into the VALORANT not opening bug, here's our primer that includes some methods of fixing it.
